For plain color, yes — the chemistry is the same and the lamp does the work. A technician still beats you on shaping, cuticle work and intricate art, which is what you are actually paying them for.
Do I need a UV lamp?
Yes. Gel only hardens under a lamp; air-drying does nothing at all. Any standard LED nail lamp works and it cures in about sixty seconds per coat.
Will gel ruin my natural nails?
Not if you soak it off rather than peel it. Peeling removes a layer of nail plate every single time. Ten minutes in acetone and the gel lifts away on its own.
How long should a set actually last?
